A Holiday Message from Jess

Dear Bread and Roses Community,

As we embark on the holidays, let’s not forget all the families that are struggling.  Vital necessities like food, shelter and warm clothing are becoming increasingly difficult for our families to maintain.  Poverty is complex and as we gather information from our patrons on how we can best serve them in this changing landscape, let us remember a harsh realization. The majority of us are one detrimental life event, illness or tragedy away from a similar circumstance.

We have so much more in common than the differences that separate us.  We all want to be loved, we all want to provide for our family and we all want to make the most of whatever time we have left on this earth.

There is a renewed sense of hope emerging after a few very difficult years.  Let’s use this renewed sense of hope to guide us in connecting with and supporting others in whatever ways we can.  There is no greater gift than the gift of love.

Wishing you health, peace and a sense of community this New Year.

With all my heart,

Jess
