Extending a hand to our homeless neighbors.

ABOUT COMMUNITY FOOD OUTREACH

On any night, 3,000 shelter beds across Massachusetts are full or
beyond capacity. The Covid-19 pandemic has impacted Lawrence deeply.

We expect homelessness in our community to increase as:

  • Supplemental unemployment benefits end

  • The eviction moratorium ends

  • Housing and food costs continue to soar

Our Response:

Focus on providing direct food relief to individuals residing in the homeless encampments

Provide both hot meals and cold lunches

Meals served in biodegradable packaging

Provide clothing, blankets, toiletries and pet food upon request.

Our Approach:

Being there for people experiencing life on the street or in shelters has always been at the forefront of our mission. Starting in Summer 2022, we will be delivering both hot meals and cold lunches to the residents of Lawrence’s homeless encampments - along with clothing, blankets, toiletries and pet food.

This direct approach removes obstacles to food access, such as mental illness and the lack of an address, bank account or transportation.

Food is donated through food drives and our network of wholesale suppliers, restaurants and community groups and served in biodegradable packaging.
