ABOUT FOOD RESCUE
Our van travels across Greater Lawrence and the Merrimack Valley to collect hundreds of tons of rescued food to better serve community members most at-risk of food insecurity. Our program is a critical life force for our Emergency Food Pantry.
This year, we rescued 2 million pounds of food—more than the last five years combined.
Our rescued food is is immediately distributed to the community through our Emergency Pantry, on average in less than 2-36 hours.
Our Emergency Pantry's lifeline? Our Food Rescue Program!
Meet Dezz, our Food Rescue Associate!
About 80% of the food we distribute to the community is rescued. This year, that means about 2 million pounds of food collected from local grocery stores like Shaw’s and Stop & Shop and restaurants like Tripoli’s, Chick-fil-a will be distributed right back to the people in our community who need it most.
What we aren’t able to rescue for our Emergency Pantry, we purchase in order to always ensure there is a variety of food that meets the cultural preferences and dietary needs of everyone.
